Bail granted in nine cases against Imran Khan extended by one day
The division bench of Islamabad High Court has extended bail by one day in nine cases against former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The court says that if the accused Imran Khan does not appear till Thursday, his bail in these cases will be canceled before his arrest.
A two-member bench headed by Justice Amir Farooq heard these applications in Islamabad. Imran Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, came to the rostrum and while giving arguments, said that his client had appeared in the Lahore High Court yesterday, although the appearance was not necessary. And after the appearance, it became clear that something had gone wrong.
He said that at seven o’clock in the evening, Imran Khan had to go to Shaukat Khanum hospital after swelling on his ketang, on which the head of the bench remarked that his client did not appear in the court and did not join the investigation.
He said that even if we leave the attendance, what should we do if there is no investigation involved?
Imran Khan’s lawyer said that the judges of the Lahore High Court said that he will be investigated.
Barrister Salman Safdar said that the application has been filed for the first time on medical ground, on which the head of the bench said that you are also giving the medical report of a private hospital and why not get treatment from a government hospital.
Addressing Imran Khan’s lawyer, the Chief Justice said, “You know that in such cases there is a report from the government hospital.”
Imran Khan’s lawyer said that his client is seventy-one years old and it takes time for wounds to heal even at this age. The Chief Justice inquired that ‘where in the law is there exemption from bail before arrest?’ He said that an example was given in the previous hearing as to whether the bail of a common man can be like this.
Among the judges present in the bench, Gul Hasan Aurangzeb remarked that ‘sometimes there is a threat, sometimes there is a pain in the leg, Imran Khan did not appear on four appearances. He said that another accused will come with this order that this example exists.
Imran Khan’s lawyer said that 140 cases were not filed against a single person in three months and this is an unusual situation.
Addressing Imran Khan’s lawyer, Chief Justice said that you can go to any relevant court. We will not hear arguments in the absence of the petitioner. The court has said that they will consider withdrawing the interim bail.
The Chief Justice said that if they come tomorrow morning, then it is fine, otherwise we will dismiss them.
The Advocate General of Islamabad said that they give the report of Shaukat Khanum Hospital. He said that his hospital and his doctor will give a report of not getting well for six months. The Advocate General said that security arrangements have been made for him today and will have to be done again tomorrow.
The Chief Justice said that if Imran Khan does not appear tomorrow, the bail will be rejected. He said that the law is very clear and equal for all in this regard.
The Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing on bail applications in nine cases of Imran Khan till Thursday.
