In Pakistan, the Ministry of Law and Justice has asked political parties to ‘refrain from attacking national institutions’.
In a statement issued by the Federal Ministry of Law and Justice on Sunday, the Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Justice Amir Farooq, has been strongly condemned for the “attack by a political party through social media”.
According to the official news agency APP, the statement said that political parties should refrain from attacking the country’s institutions. It is noteworthy that the hearing on the request for suspension of the sentence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Tosha Khana case was scheduled for Monday.
On Friday, due to the non-appearance of Election Commission’s lawyer Amjad Pervez, the Chief Justice had ordered to adjourn the hearing. Imran Khan, imprisoned in Attock Jail, was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the trial court of Judge Humayun Dilawar on the charge of not declaring the gifts taken from Tosha Khana as assets.
Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar has been removed from his post and made OSD (Officer on Special Duty). This notification of the death of Humayun Dilawar was issued on the instructions of the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court. Judge Humayun Dilawar wrote in a letter to the Islamabad High Court that “I passed a decision on a criminal complaint under the Election Act against the chairman of a political party, after which a campaign was launched against me on social media.”
Without naming names, he was apparently referring to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan and his workers.
