Seema Haider and Sachin Meena sit in their two-room house 70 kilometers from India’s capital, New Delhi.
On Monday morning, he is repeating his answers to the crowd of media and locals on this cross-border love story that has been in circulation for three days.
It is raining incessantly in and around Rabopura village, but there is no place to put a foot in Sachin’s street and small house.
Both Sachin and Seema are giving a live interview on a TV channel and Seema’s Pakistani husband Ghulam Haider is also present from Saudi Arabia.
“Our children call him (Sachin) papa,” Seema, dressed in green and wearing a red dupatta, addresses the camera. ..He who gives love will get love..
Meanwhile, other media persons present there protest that this live show is going on for the last one hour in the name of 10 minutes interview.
Sachin is looking seriously at the camera. Seema looks at him and pats his arm while smiling and says ‘Why are you worrying so much?’
Sachin smiles softly in response. In response to a question, he admits that Seema and his method of mating is not legally correct but his intention was right.
Sachin says ‘I am ready for whatever punishment the government will give.’ But Seema immediately intervenes and says that ‘Sachin will not be punished.’ If you get it, I will also get it, if there is more crime than Sachin, then it is my crime. They have only supported me.
A police constable is also present and is listening to their answers with great interest.
This seemingly endless interview continues and the media crowd seems to be growing despite the constant rain. Sachin’s father is repeatedly coming in and out restlessly. He repeatedly pleads with the interviewers to keep it short but no one listens to his pleas.
The holy month of Sawan for Hindus continues with some devotees fasting and others taking a bath in the Ganges river. They say that their ‘whole family’ returned from ‘Ganga Asnaan’ this morning and the couple has been talking to the media ever since.
Sachin’s father says that Seema and Sachin are giving interviews without eating and drinking, their tongues and throats are tired. But the questions continue.
Seema has declared that she has become a Hindu. However, he is a ‘Pakistani agent’ for many TV channels.
